Step 1: Take either an awl or a narrow screwdriver and get the spline out of the edge of your window.

Step 2: Secure the window frame to your work surface by screwing in two wooden blocks. This will prevent bowing and keep your frame in the position you want it to be in.

Step 3: Place your new, undamaged screen over the frame with a bit hanging over each side, usually between ¾” to 1”. Then, cut a 45-degree angle at each of the corners so the screen doesn’t bunch up later.

Step 4: Use a screen rolling tool to push the new spline into the frame, securing the screen along the way. If it starts wrinkling or bunching up too much, take the spline out and start again until it sits just how you want it to.

Step 5: With a sharp knife, go back around the edges of your window frame and trim the excess screen that is left.
